Have you ever seen a group of friends (or people) collecting mystery boxes, playing cards, or going to casinos? Chances are that they’re bonding! In the gambling history of the Philippines, gambling can be seen as a bonding activity enjoyed by groups of people.
The value of pakikisama is evident in the Philippines! Said value revolves around living together harmoniously with friends and family. There are cases wherein the Filipino youth participate in gambling activities with said people to maintain relations.
To some kiddos, maintaining good relationships and receiving acceptance from peers can be important to them now, hence them joining in on the activities. If anything, most Filipino youth would do gambling activities as a group rather than attending solo.
When there’s money involved, there is bound to be some confusion especially when gambling is a factor. This can be avoided with strict rules and self control. If spending habits hit too close to debt, it is smart for Filipino youths to find fun in other types of activities. Gambling isn’t the only thing!
